The Central Statistics Agency for Pangkal Pinang City released inflation for May 2024. Inflation (y-on-y) in Pangkal Pinang City was 1.97 percent with a Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 104.70. Y-on-y inflation occurred due to price increases in almost all expenditure groups. The expenditure group that has the largest contribution to inflation is the food, beverage and tobacco group at 5.00 percent, followed by the transportation group at 0.22 percent.
The commodities contributing to y-on-y inflation in the food, beverage and tobacco group are rice at 0.77 percent, machine-made kretek cigarettes (SKM) at 0.42 percent, and shallots at 0.16 percent. For the transportation group, the commodity that contributed the most to inflation was air transportation at 0.17 percent.
For monthly data (m-to-m), in May 2024 there will be deflation of 0.34 percent. The expenditure group that provided the largest contribution was food, drink and tobacco at 0.18 percent, followed by the transportation group at 0.16 percent.
Commodities contributing to m-to-m deflation in the food, beverage and tobacco group were rice at 0.12 percent, purebred chicken meat at 0.11 percent, and cucumbers at 0.03 percent. For the transportation group, the major contributing commodity is air transportation at 0.19 percent. After the month of Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr, prices in the food, beverage and tobacco group as well as the transportation group relatively decreased compared to the previous month.
