Abstract

  • In May 2023 Year on Year (y-on-y) inflation in Pangkalpinang was 1.93 percent with a Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 114.16. The lowest y-on-y inflation in Indonesia occurred in Pangkalpinang. Meanwhile, the highest y-on-y inflation in Indonesia occurred in Kota Baru and Timika, respectively, at 6.04 percent with a CPI of 117.74 and 121.80.
  • Year on Year (y-on-y) inflation occurred due to price increases indicated by increases in the CPI of 9 expenditure groups, namely: the clothing and footwear group by 0.69 percent; the housing, water, electricity and household fuel group by 2.20 percent; equipment, equipment and household routine maintenance group by 1.04 percent; the health group by 1.07 percent; transportation group by 9.28 percent; the recreation, sports and culture group by 1.44 percent; the education group by 0.04 percent; the group providing food and drink/restaurants by 1.07 percent; and the personal care and other services group of 3.07 percent. In contrast, the group that experienced deflation or a decrease in CPI was the food, beverage and tobacco sub-group by 0.31 percent and the information, communication and financial services group experienced deflation of 0.44 percent.
  • The May 2023 Pangkalpinang Month to Month (m-to-m) inflation rate was 0.01 percent and the May 2023 Year to Date (y-to-d) inflation rate was 0.44 percent. Despite experiencing inflation, the May 2023 Pangkalpinang Month to Month (m-to-m) inflation rate was lower than April 2023.
  • The inflation rate y-on-y for the Energy component was 14.11 percent with a share of 1.3800 percent; while the Food Ingredients component experienced a deflation of 2.84 percent with a share of 0.7333.
