Abstract

  • In May 2021 Tanjungpandan City experienced an inflation of 0.52 percent with a CPI of 108.39. Of the 90 CPI cities, 78 cities experienced inflation and 12 cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation occurred in Manokwari at 1.82 percent with a CPI of 109.47 and the lowest occurred in Tembilahan at 0.01 percent with a CPI of 106.82. Meanwhile, the highest deflation occurred in Timika at 0.83 percent with a CPI of 107.24 and the lowest occurred in Palembang at 0.02 percent with a CPI of 105.50.
  • Inflation occurred due to an increase in prices as indicated by a 0.82 percent increase in the expenditure group index, namely: the food, beverage and tobacco group; clothing and footwear group by 0.02 percent; household equipment, equipment, and routine maintenance group by 0.05 percent; health group by 0.23 percent; transportation group by 2.74 percent; recreation, sports, and culture groups by 0.44 percent; food and beverage/restaurant supply group by 1.64 percent; and the personal care and other services group by 0.26 percent. Some other expenditure groups experienced deflation, namely: housing, water, electricity, and household fuel by 1.39 percent; and the information, communication, and financial services group by 0.04 percent. The education group did not change.
  • The calendar year inflation rate is 1.64 percent and the year-on-year inflation rate (May 2021 to May 2020) is 3.65 percent.
  • The energy group in May 2021 experienced deflation of 2.06 percent with a CPI of 101.78. Meanwhile, the food ingredients component in May 2021 experienced inflation of 1.06 percent with a CPI of 111.80
