Abstract

  • In March 2021, Tanjungpandan City experienced deflation of 0.18 percent with a CPI of 107.85. Of the 90 CPI cities, 58 experienced inflation and 32 cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation occurred in Jayapura at 1.07 percent with the CPI at 105.53 and the lowest occurred in Tangerang and Banjarmasin at 0.01 percent. Meanwhile, the highest deflation occurred in Bau-Bau at 0.99 percent with the CPI at 103.38 and the lowest occurred in Palopo at 0.01 percent with the CPI at 104.87.
  • Deflation occurred due to a decrease in prices as indicated by a fall in the index for the expenditure group, namely: the food, beverage and tobacco group by 1.15 percent; the transportation group of 0.33 percent; and the information, communication and financial services group of 0.17 percent. Some of the other expenditure groups experienced inflation, namely: the clothing and footwear group by 0.01 percent; the housing, water, electricity, and household fuel group by 0.16 percent; equipment, tools, and household routine maintenance group by 0.08 percent; the health group of 0.09 percent; the recreation, sports, and culture group by 0.13 percent; the education group of 1.02 percent; the food and beverage / restaurant supply group by 3.03 percent; and the personal care and other services group by 0.24 percent.
  • The calendar year inflation rate is 1.13 percent and the year-on-year inflation rate (March 2021 against March 2020) is 4.17 percent.
  • The energy group in March 2021 experienced inflation of 0.22 percent with the CPI of 103.56. Meanwhile, the foodstuff component in March 2021 experienced deflation of 1.47 percent with a CPI of 110.75.
