The Poverty Depth Index measures the average expenditure gap for each poor person towards the poverty line which is the boundary between the poor and non-poor groups. The greater the value, the further behind the poor people's expenditure from the poverty line.

The poverty depth index figure for Pangkalpinang City has increased from 0.62 in 2023 to 0.68 in 2024. This could be due to the increase in the poverty line, while people's income has not increased.
