Submission of Poverty Rate in Pangkalpinang Municipality 2017

On January 3, 2018, BPS Kota Pangkalpinang officially handed over poverty rate of Pangkalpinang Municipality in 2017 to the Local Government of Pangkalpinang Municipality. Meeting was held in the meeting room of the Regional Secretary of Pangkalpinang Municipality and was received directly by the Deputy Mayor, M.Sopian, BA because the Mayor of Pangkalpinang was on a business trip out of town so he could not attend the event. There are also social welfare assistants, expert staff, Head of Investment Board, Head of Social Service and Head of Bappeda Pangkalpinang Municipality.

Based on poverty data in 2017, the poverty rate of Pangkalpinang City is 4.8 percent. This means that out of 100 people, there are 4 to 5 poor people. The poverty rate is the third lowest number of all districts / cities in Bangka Belitung Province. The poverty rate calculated by BPS uses the concept of basic needs approach. With this approach, poverty is seen as an economic inability to meet the basic needs of food and not food as measured by the expenditure side. The main data source used to calculate proverty rate is National Socio-Economic Survey (Susenas) data.
