Abstract

  • In May 2022, Tanjungpandan City experienced inflation of 2.24 percent with a CPI of 116.00 and was the highest of 90 CPI cities. The lowest inflation occurred in Gunungsitoli and Tangerang at 0.05 percent with the CPI at 110.63 and 109.73, respectively. Of the 90 CPI cities, only 3 cities experienced deflation. The highest deflation occurred in Kotamobagu at 0.21 percent with a CPI of 111.25, while the lowest deflation occurred in Merauke at 0.02 percent with a CPI of 109.92.
  • Inflation occurred due to an increase in prices as indicated by an increase in some indexes of expenditure groups, namely: food, beverages and tobacco by 4.51 percent; clothing and footwear group by 0.04 percent; housing, water, electricity, and household fuel groups by 0.33 percent; health group by 0.50 percent; transportation group by 3.08 percent; recreation, sports, and culture groups by 3.67 percent; food and beverage/restaurant supply group by 0.31 percent; and the personal care and other services group by 0.40 percent. Expenditure groups that experienced deflation were equipment, equipment and routine household maintenance by 0.01 percent; and the information, communication, and financial services group by 0.24 percent. Meanwhile, the education group did not change.
  • The inflation rate for the calendar year in May 2022 is 4.58 percent and the year-on-year inflation rate (May 2022 to May 2021) is 7.02 percent.
  • The energy group in May 2022 experienced inflation of 0.01 with a CPI of 104.68. Meanwhile, the food ingredients component in May 2022 experienced inflation of 4.68 percent with a CPI of 124.96.
