Abstract


  • In October 2021 Tanjungpandan City experienced a deflation of 0.44 percent with a CPI of 109.26. Of the 90 CPI cities, 68 cities experienced inflation and 22 cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation occurred in Sampit of 2.06 percent with a CPI of 109.30 and the lowest occurred in Banyuwangi and Sumenep of 0.02 percent with a CPI of 104.64 and 106.21, respectively. Meanwhile, the highest deflation occurred in Kendari at 0.70 percent with a CPI of 107.98 and the lowest occurred in Bengkulu at 0.02 percent with a CPI of 105.89.
  • Deflation occurred due to a decrease in prices as indicated by a decrease in some indexes of the expenditure group, namely: the food, beverage and tobacco group by 1.48 percent and the clothing and footwear group by 0.05 percent. Meanwhile, expenditure groups that experienced inflation were: housing, water, electricity, and household fuel by 0.01 percent; household equipment, equipment and routine maintenance group by 0.24 percent; health group by 0.11 percent; transportation group by 0.80 percent; information, communication, and financial services group by 0.06 percent; recreation, sports, and culture groups by 0.08 percent; food and beverage/restaurant supply group by 0.17 percent; and the personal care and other services group by 0.27 percent. The education group did not change.
  • The inflation rate for the calendar year (January–October) 2021 is 2.46 percent and the year-on-year inflation rate (October 2021 to October 2020) is 3.96 percent.
  • The energy group in October 2021 experienced neither inflation nor deflation with a CPI of 100.94. Meanwhile, the foodstuff component in October 2021 experienced deflation of 1.93 percent with a CPI of 113.86.
