August 2021, Pangkalpinang City experienced a deflation of 0.27 percent, with calendar year inflation of 0.88 percent and year-on-year of 1.83 percent.

Abstract

  • Pangkalpinang City, in August 2021 deflation of 0.27 percent with a Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 104.35. Of the 90 CPI cities, 34 cities experienced inflation and 56 cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation occurred in Kendari at 0.62 percent with a CPI of 108.48 and the lowest was in Tanjung at 0.01 percent with a CPI of 108.17. Meanwhile, the highest deflation occurred in Sorong by 1.04 percent with a CPI of 107.20 and the lowest in Meulaboh, Sukabumi, and Timika at 0.03 percent with a CPI of 109.93 each; 106.56; and 108.14.
  • Deflation was due to a decrease in prices as indicated by a decrease in the index in several contest groups, namely: food, beverages and tobacco by 0.81 percent; transportation group by 0.51 percent; and the personal care and other services group by 0.08 percent. Meanwhile, the increase in the index that occurred in the housing, water, electricity and household fuel groups was 0.02 percent; household equipment, equipment and routine maintenance group by 0.22 percent; health group by 0.20 percent; and the education group by 1.22 percent. While the clothing and footwear group; information, communication and financial services group; recreation, sports and cultural groups; and the food and beverage/restaurant supply group is stable or does not experience changes in the index.
  • The largest contribution to deflation was contributed by broiler meat, air freight rates, and squid.
  • Calendar year August 2021 experienced inflation of 0.88 percent and year-on-year inflation (August 2021 to August 2020) also inflation of 1.83 percent.
  • The energy component in August 2021 did not experience a change in the index of 101.08 CPI. Meanwhile, the deflationary foodstuff component was 1.24 percent with a CPI of 105.65
